In every living room there are rooms with high humidity. These are bathrooms, kitchens, balconies, as well as storage rooms, since they are very often not heated, which is why they get damp. In order for such rooms to serve for decades, it is necessary to treat the surfaces with waterproofing materials. In the same article we will tell you how to treat vertical surfaces in bathrooms.
But most often the masters prefer to use a cement-based coating waterproofing material with polymer additives (the latter affect the elasticity, strength and wear resistance of the material).
For example, the polymer-cement mixture for waterproofing Teknomer 200 EX is suitable for use in bathrooms, shower rooms, as well as spa complexes with a swimming pool, including rooms with high temperatures, such as saunas. The material is also suitable for external use, but in this case it is recommended to additionally cover the waterproofing layer with a finishing coating.
As for the surfaces on which Teknomer 200 EX can be applied, these include: concrete, screed, brick and plaster. Naturally, each of these materials should be smooth and durable.
How to properly handle bathroom walls?
Bathroom walls require mandatory treatment, especially those surfaces that are constantly in contact with water droplets, such as the surfaces around the washbasin, shower system or bathroom bowl.
Otherwise, these places will gradually absorb moisture, become damp, as a result of which substances harmful to humans, such as fungus, will form there.
Before applying, we check the surface for strength and the absence of any chips or irregularities. We also remove grease, dust, dirt and other substances that affect the quality of the material and its adhesion.
For application, it is necessary to mix the material in a clean container with water in the proportion that is written on the package. Preparation of the working mixture “by eye” can lead to poor-quality application of the material and its peeling or cracking in the future.
Waterproofing is applied in several ways: by brush, roller or mechanical spray. The waterproofing stage is carried out slowly in 2 layers, which must dry completely before the start of the cladding work. Usually the drying time of high-quality waterproofing material is up to 7 days.
Choose only high-quality materials from trusted manufacturers, with the help of which you will provide yourself with a wear-resistant beautiful repair.
