Laying tiles is a rather painstaking part of the repair. It requires care and patience. When laying tiles, not a few minor mistakes are allowed, which the master may simply not think about when working, but which greatly affect the quality of laying.
We have prepared 3 common mistakes when laying tile decorative material.
Error 1: Insufficiently prepared surface for laying tiles
Unfortunately, not everyone attaches much importance to the preparatory stage.
Namely, the strength and durability of the cladding coating depends on it by at least 50%.
This stage involves ensuring high adhesion and creating a flat surface for proper tile laying.
Error 2: incorrectly selected adhesive composition
The remaining 50% depend on properly selected materials, especially glue, since it will depend on whether the tile will crack, peel off or serve as an ideal facing coating for many, many years.
A different adhesive composition is selected for each individual performance characteristics. For example, high-strength elastic adhesive should be used when laying tiles on a warm floor, and high-strength adhesive - for laying porcelain stoneware or any other heavy natural stone. For the first case, the composition of Teknofay Plus C1TE is suitable, and for the second – Teknofay EX C2TE.
Mistake 3: incorrect application of glue
Before mixing and applying the adhesive composition, it is advisable to read the instructions on the package, especially if you are not a very experienced craftsman.
With it, you will learn the correct glue consumption, the correct proportions for kneading it, as well as which layer and how it should be applied to the decorative material.
Sometimes, as an economy, such a mistake as using glue only at the corners of the tile is allowed. It will hold, but the probability of cracking is very high.
And sometimes they make the opposite mistake: because of the desire to provide a more durable installation, the glue is applied with a very thick layer. This can lead to very sloppy and uneven styling.
