During the repair, a huge number of questions arise. And some of them are related to the selection of material. Underfloor heating is most often installed in the bathroom and kitchen. Choosing a floor covering, many doubt between tiles and granite. What is better for underfloor heating tile or porcelain tile?

In fact, porcelain stoneware and tiles are very similar materials. Both of these coatings are made of clay, are reinforced under the influence of high temperature and are sufficiently wear-resistant.  However, there are several fundamental differences between them:

  • Different types of clay are used in the production of tiles and porcelain stoneware. In addition, granite is baked under the influence of higher temperatures.
  • The drawing on the tile is carried out only on the surface, while on porcelain stoneware it passes through the entire structure. 
  • Porcelain stoneware is subject to mandatory certification.


In fact, it is difficult to say unequivocally which is better: granite or tile. The choice of material depends on a number of factors: room, passability, total area, etc.

How to properly lay porcelain stoneware on a warm floor?

Choosing porcelain stoneware as a floor covering, it is very important not only to choose a high-quality material, but also to lay it correctly.

The process of laying porcelain stoneware on both warm and ordinary floors is generally similar and consists of the following stages:

  • Surface preparation. Removal of impurities.
  • Applying glue to the tile and floor with a special toothed spatula.
  • Laying granite on the floor according to the marking.
  • Alignment using a special level.
  • Installation of crosses between tiles to form seams. (You can also use a floor leveling system).
  • Removal of glue residues.


But when it comes to laying porcelain stoneware on a warm floor, it is very important to follow a few rules:

  • the heating circuit must be securely fixed
  • it is forbidden to turn on the system until the glue is completely dry.
