In the modern world, competition in the market is growing every day in all areas, including construction. Manufacturers continue to bring out new improved formulas for the creation of building chemistry materials and everyone claims that their materials are the best. How to choose?
We offer you to get acquainted with the recommendations for choosing both the manufacturer and the materials for repairing the concrete surface.
How not to make a mistake in choosing a manufacturer of building materials
First, we look at the reputation in the market, reviews and experience of the company. Of course, there are manufacturers who have been selling materials of their own production for several decades or more and have an excellent reputation, but do not forget about new companies that are just entering the market, since they most often offer higher-quality material for a more favorable price.
Secondly, pay attention to the product range and stock availability (and even the size of the warehouse). After all, the manufacturer must react quickly and provide the goods at the right time. Who has faced a situation when a couple of bags of material were not enough in the middle of repairs or construction, and the manufacturer did not have it available? We think many. As a result, the construction has been delayed, the deadlines for the completion of the object are postponed, everyone is nervous and waiting for this material to reappear in the warehouse. Therefore, having a good warehouse is a huge plus.
Thirdly, evaluate the work of sales managers, because if they can clearly and quickly provide you with information on products, choose the right material, name prices and calculate the required amount (volume) of material for your object - this says a lot.
Fourth, do not hesitate to ask what big projects have been implemented by the manufacturer's materials. And also whether they have recommendations or real reviews (preferably signed and stamped).
After we have decided on the manufacturer of materials, we proceed to the selection of the material itself.
And so, how to choose the right repair mix
Let's not say that concrete needs to be protected and strengthened initially, everyone knows this perfectly well, but for some reason not everyone follows these rules. And as a result, concrete begins to collapse quite quickly.
We suggest considering what repair mixes are available and what to pay attention to when choosing them.
The width of potholes or cracks: if the damaged area is small enough, it is recommended to embroider it to a size of at least 10 * 10 mm and use a universal repair mixture (for example, Teknorep 300). If the crack is small but long, then in some cases you can use a sealant for seams.
The depth of potholes: if the area is damaged by less than 10 mm around the perimeter (and we all know that the minimum layer of the repair mixture is 10 mm), then of course it makes no sense to deepen it, since it will take a lot of time and effort. It is better to use self-leveling self-leveling mixtures (for example, Teknoself or Teknoself 500), which can be filled with a thickness of 2-3 mm.
If, on the contrary, this area is deep enough (more than 50-60 mm), then it will have to be repaired with a repair mixture in several stages.
Vertical or horizontal damaged surface: of course, there are universal repair mixes that can be used on both horizontal and vertical surfaces (for example, Teknorep 300), but it is recommended to select the material separately for a specific case. Let's say that the repair of the floor in the warehouse will be done much faster using a self-leveling repair mixture (one of the most high-quality and convenient in operation is considered Teknogrout EX), which you just need to pour and trim, rather than bother with a universal repair compound, applying it with a spatula.
Urgency of repair: if you are not limited in time, almost any repair mixture will suit you, because the time of commissioning of the surface will not play a particularly important role. If you need to repair the surface very quickly in order not to stop the work of the plant, factory or warehouse for a whole day or more, or not to block the concrete road, there are special high-speed non-shrink bulk repair mixtures with which the surface will be ready for commissioning in 1 hour. A good example is the high-speed repairman Teknogrout Rapid. After an hour, the compressive strength will be more than 16 N/mm2, after 24 hours - more than 35 N/mm2, and after a month - 65.0 N/mm2 and higher.
An important point: you need to work with the material very quickly without smoking, as it begins to set in 2.5 minutes after kneading.
And now let's analyze the use of repair mixtures with specific examples.
Which repair mixture is better to use for the installation of industrial equipment
Teknogrout 350 self-leveling one-component repair mix is suitable for the installation of industrial equipment. It is characterized by high adhesion and strength (more than 60.0 N/mm2) and complies with TS EN 1996 standards. The thickness of the material application ranges from 10 mm to 75 mm.
Which repair mixture is better to use for the installation of metal columns and pillars
Teknogrout EX coarse-grained self-leveling shrink-free repair mix is ideal for installing metal columns and pillars, and is also suitable for repairing sections of reinforced concrete joints with beams. The material gains strength quickly enough (in 1-2 hours), has good fluidity and does not shrink, and also does not collapse under the influence of moisture.
What is the best high-speed mixture for repairing concrete foundations
Teknogrout Rapid self-leveling repair mix is definitely the best for urgent repair of concrete. It is also often used to install or strengthen hatches.
The mixture is not elastic and begins to set after 2.5 minutes, so it is suitable for working on small areas.
What to use for the repair of concrete floors in industrial premises
When choosing a repair compound for industrial premises, it is necessary to take into account the resistance of the material to chemicals. Teknogrout EX liquid mixture withstands their impact, so it can be safely used.
How can I replace the floor screed
An excellent alternative is a self-leveling floor, or rather a self-leveling mixture for Teknoself self-leveling floors. Firstly, the minimum height of the screed is 50 mm, and the bulk mixture is 2 mm, which saves a lot of space. Secondly, the screed needs to be poured throughout the apartment / house, and with the help of a self-leveling mixture, repairs can be made only in one room. And thirdly, it is easier to work with a self-leveling floor.
Which repair mix is suitable for the installation or repair of a concrete well
To repair or install a concrete well, you need to choose a water-resistant material. This is exactly what Teknogrout EX liquid mixture is, which does not break down under the influence of moisture.
Which screed is better for underfloor heating
The best modern choice is not a screed, but a self-leveling floor. It is perfectly compatible with underfloor heating. We can give an example of two materials: Teknoself and Teknoself 500. The filling height of the first is from 2 to 10 mm, the second - up to 30 mm. With the use of Teknoself 500 - the surface will be ready for pedestrian loads in 2 hours.
All the described materials are produced at 4 high-tech factories in Turkey by a reliable manufacturer Tekno, which has been successfully developing and conquering new sales markets for 20 years, one of which is Ukrainian. The company has its own development and research center, where every product must be tested. The materials are certified, comply with European quality standards and are used both in Turkey and in European and Asian countries.
