Plaster is one of the most popular materials for finishing surfaces outside and indoors. And before you start plastering surfaces, you should familiarize yourself with some nuances when working with plasters.
Do I need to prime the walls before plastering?
The primer increases adhesion to the surface, so it can be primed before each stage of construction work. But if the surface is durable and does not dust, then you can do with plain water: slightly moisten the surface before applying the first layer of plaster.
How to apply plaster correctly?
The plaster is applied to a clean, flat surface without any cracks or cavities. If there are such, then it is necessary to seal them with a repair mixture, wait for complete drying and only then proceed to plastering work.
The material is applied in 2 layers with a thickness of 1.2 mm within 2 hours after the preparation of the working mixture. After applying the second layer, a pattern is created within 5-10 minutes.
To obtain a uniform shade over the entire plane, an equal amount of water is used in the preparation of each subsequent batch of plaster. It is also not recommended to take breaks during the application of the material until the corners and joints are reached.
Do I need to open the windows when the plaster dries?
If the repair work is carried out indoors, then it is not recommended to open the windows until the plaster is completely dry. Direct sunlight or precipitation can negatively affect the quality of the finish.
If the work is carried out outside, for example, with the help of the Teknodeko bark beetle, then it is also recommended to protect the material from adverse weather conditions for at least 24 hours.
How long does the bark beetle dry?
Depending on weather conditions, the time of complete drying of the bark beetle is from 24 to 48 hours.
Is it possible to apply bark beetle on uneven walls?
It is possible, but there are some "buts":
Therefore, it is better not to experiment, but to do everything correctly and in stages: first level the surface, then apply a finishing coating – bark beetle.
Is it possible to apply decorative plaster on an old finishing putty?
Theoretically yes, but as practice shows, freshly applied plaster can fall off together with the old putty.
It is better to clean the surfaces from the old finishing material and prepare the surface for applying a new one. On the one hand, the repair work will take longer, but on the other – such repairs will last much more years.
