Such areas as terraces, open balconies and roofs require mandatory waterproofing with a quality material that provides resistance to ultraviolet radiation and salts. In addition, it is desirable that the material is elastic, does not shrink and does not crack.
All of the above (and not only) characteristics include liquid two-component waterproofing based on acrylic Teknomer 200 EX W. We will tell you about waterproofing open balconies and terraces with this material in our article.
How to waterproof a terrace or open balcony with Teknomer 200 EX W?
For high-quality waterproofing of a terrace or open balcony, you must first make sure that there is no damage on the surface, such as cracks, leaks, etc. Cracks and similar damage are repaired with ordinary cement mortars, and leaks - with special fast-acting waterproofing seals. Next, you need to make sure that the surface to which the waterproofing will be applied is clean, free of dust, dirt, oils, etc.
Teknomer 200 EX W waterproofing is two-component, so to prepare the working solution, you just need to mix the 2 components in one container with a special mixer. You have about 70 minutes to apply the material. Use a brush for small areas and a sprayer for large ones. After 5-6 hours, you can apply the 2nd layer perpendicular to the first. By the way, for even better protection, you can lay Teknomer Pah Bandi 120/70 sealing tape on the seams and joints.
In a week at most, the terrace or open balcony will be ready for use.
By the way, another advantage of using Teknomer 200 EX W waterproofing is the absence of mandatory use of facing material, because it already forms a good, smooth, seamless, white ultraviolet coating.
