Micro–cement is a novelty in the repair and construction market. This is a durable and wear-resistant cladding material, which began to be actively used after the popularization of such styles in the interior as Loft and High-tech.
By the way, the material has two names: micro-cement and microbiton. These are complete synonyms that mean the same material.
What are the features of micro-cement?
Micro-cement is made on a cement basis, so its characteristics may resemble decorative cement plaster, but of course there are differences.
Micro-cement is intended for facing vertical and horizontal surfaces indoors. It contains marble chips, so the surface covered with micro-cement is a bit like a surface laid with travertine.
Micro-cement is not afraid of moisture, so it is often used in places such as bathrooms and shower rooms, kitchens. But for additional protection, it is better to cover it with varnish. The varnish can be either glossy or matte.
Micro-cement can be applied to a surface with an old facing material, for example, on paint or decorative plaster, provided that they are firmly attached to the base, do not peel off and do not crumble.
Micro–cement is an elastic material, so it will not begin to crack with temperature changes.
Micro-cement does not leave seams on the surface. With proper application, you will get a perfectly smooth and monotonous surface.
How to apply micro-cement correctly?
Micro cement application technology
We offer you to familiarize yourself with the 2 stages when applying micro cement:

Preparatory stage
Firstly, it must be said that micro-cement can be applied to both old and fresh mineral surfaces.
In the second case, you need to wait at least 28 days until completely dry.
Secondly, it is necessary to select the so-called preparatory materials before applying the micro-cement, depending on the characteristics of operation. Here are some examples:
When facing a room with high humidity, waterproofing of surfaces is a mandatory step.
When facing a room with normal operating conditions, only a primer should be used.
When facing a room whose surfaces have cracks or any damage, it is necessary to use a repair mixture, after which a primer or waterproofing material.
Thirdly, the surface on which the micro-cement will be applied should be perfectly smooth and clean. To do this, it must be sanded and cleaned of dust.

Application of the material
Micro-cement can be applied to the surface in 2 or 3 layers with a total thickness of 2-4 mm using a steel spatula.
Each layer should dry for 12 to 24 hours, depending on the air temperature.
When applying the last layer of micro-cement, a pattern is created by any convenient method, for example, with the same spatula or grinding.
After all the layers of micro-cement have dried, you can apply the varnish. And in wet rooms, this must be done without fail.
