How to plug holes in a concrete wall

Concrete is one of the most popular materials in construction today. But even such a durable and reliable material is subject to destruction in the form of cracks, splinters, holes, etc. They appear due to improper operation or pouring of concrete, due to ignoring the use of hardeners for concrete, as well as due to strong vibrations and excessive loads on the concrete structure.

In such cases, it is not necessary to postpone the repair for a long time, since the defects will only increase, it is better to eliminate them at the initial stage. There are many materials that can be used to seal up such destruction. These include repair mixes, sealants, mounting foams, putties, and even adhesives (a more popular method).

In addition to destructive processes, holes may remain in strong concrete and reinforced concrete structures after removing the formwork, removing fittings and tie screws, etc. In such cases, it is impossible to do without a repair mixture, which is considered the most reliable material for repairing concrete surfaces.

There are two types of repair mixes: for work on horizontal and for work on vertical surfaces. We'll talk about the second.

How to fix a hole in a concrete wall

We offer to draw your attention to the repair mixes of the Turkish manufacturer Tekno, which have successfully proven themselves in our Ukrainian market, because their price-quality ratio is very competitive. I would like to highlight - a one-component non-shrinking high-strength elastic mixture Teknorep 300 EX. It is quite easy to work with, it is conveniently molded, as it has elastic characteristics, and also has a high adhesive strength to concrete (more than 2 MPa). With the help of the material, any defect in size from 10 to 40 mm can be eliminated. If the hole is more than 40 mm in size, it is recommended to perform repairs in several layers.

What are the advantages of Teknorep 300EX repair mix?
In addition to the above characteristics, the following advantages of the Teknorep 300 EX material can be distinguished:

  • does not shrink, strong and durable
  • it has a sufficiently high compressive strength (more than 60 MPa)
  • resistant to moisture
  • resistant to sulfates and chlorine
  • resistant to concrete carbonation
  • resistant to freezing and thawing processes
  • does not contain chlorides
  • starts setting in 20 minutes after kneading

Instructions on how to seal a hole in a concrete wall with a repair mixture:

1. First of all, clean the surface from dust, dirt and other substances that prevent setting.

2. Then moisten the surface well (when working on older concrete surfaces, it is recommended to use Tekno AD primer).

3. Then knead the mixture according to the proportion written on the bag.

4. Apply the material with a thickness of 10 to 40 mm in one layer using a spatula.

P.S. When using the repair mixture in conditions of strong wind or other harsh environmental conditions, it is recommended to use the additive Teknokur 100 to prevent cracking of the surface.

Adhering to all the recommendations for sealing defects in a concrete wall, it will serve you for decades more.
