Read articleImpregnation for mineral surfaces based on lithium silicate
Teknoser Lityum is a water–based lithium silicate surface fortifier used for strengthening, dedusting new and existing concrete floors and concrete. When applied to a concrete surface, the material penetrates into its structure, where a chemical reaction occurs, as a result of which crystals are formed that fill the pores of concrete. Since the material is lithium-based, it is less susceptible to the formation of persistent salt stains compared to similar materials based on sodium or potassium.
Application
Teknoser Lityum is designed to improve the wear resistance, density and strengthening of concrete surfaces. A feature of lithium impregnation is the property of self-polishing, that is, the greater the wear resistance of the floor, the better the appearance. Suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. It is usually used on horizontal old or new concrete surfaces that must be highly resistant to abrasion, such as warehouses, shopping malls, industrial enterprises, hangars, car service stations. It is also used to deplete precast concrete elements.
Features / Advantages
Expiration date | 24 months in a dry environment in a closed package |
Packaging | 30 kg |
The density of the compound (En ISP 2811-1) | 1,10 g/cm2 |
Application temperature | + 2 °C - + 38 °C |
Curing time | 4-6 hours |
Commissioning time | 7 days |
Foundation quality / preliminary preparation
Teknoser Lityum can be applied to existing or freshly laid concrete. Fresh concrete must be aged for 7-14 days to achieve sufficient strength. Before applying the material, it is necessary to clean the surface from any types of oil, rust, dirt and other substances that may prevent penetration into the substrate. All old coatings and impregnations must be removed.
The concrete quality should be from C20/25, the screed quality from EN 13813 CT C25-F4.
Application
The material should be applied evenly and continuously using a mechanical sprayer in such an amount that the applied film remains wet for 30 minutes. After 30-45 minutes, the material will begin to thicken. Lightly moisten the surface by spraying water to reduce slipping, then treat it for 10-20 minutes with a soft bristle brush or using a special floor cleaning machine. After 20 minutes, the material will begin to thicken again. It is necessary to wash the floor and remove the material with a mop or a vacuum cleaner for wet cleaning.
For porous surfaces with a rough texture, it may be necessary to apply another layer. The second layer is applied only after the first one dries.
Curing occurs after 7 days, and the glossy effect appears on the surface gradually after 30-90 days, depending on the frequency of surface washing.
Limitations
1. How can concrete be impregnated?
There are several types of impregnations for concrete, among which lithium is considered one of the best. Lithium impregnation can be applied to both old and freshly laid concrete. When applied to an old concrete surface, it must be properly prepared.
2. How to cover concrete on the street?
In order to extend the service life of the concrete surface, the concrete base must be protected from atmospheric influences, alkalis, temperature changes, etc. One of the best hardeners for concrete is considered to be lithium impregnation Teknoser Lityum.
3. How to impregnate the concrete screed?
It is recommended to impregnate the concrete screed with a high-quality Teknoser Lityum impregnation based on lithium silicate. Thanks to the impregnation crystals that penetrate deep into the pores, the material increases the strength of concrete.
4. How can I strengthen the screed?
The screed can be reinforced with concrete impregnation, which will increase the wear resistance and impermeability of the surface, as well as prevent the destruction of the base at low temperatures.
5. How to cover the concrete floor in the workshop?
The concrete floor in the workshop can be reinforced with both dry topping and concrete varnish, and liquid impregnation, for example, lithium, which does not require additional finishing coating and will strengthen the concrete several times.
